Hardwick Park Farm - The Livestock

Traditional breeds and rare breeds in the form of Longhorn Cattle and Whitefaced Woodland Sheep, along with Pure Hereford Cows and around 500 commercial ewes are currently a feature in the open parkland. We also have a number of rare breed pigs including, Tamworths, British Lops, Gloucester Old Spots and Middle Whites.

It is hoped that with careful management, the numbers of Traditional and Rare Breed animals on the farm will increase in the years to come. You will find below detailed information on our various livestock:

Longhorn Cattle

The Longhorn is beyond equal as a suckler cow. Its combination of qualities in terms of milk, calving ease, longevity, docility, length and leanness of body is unrivalled by any other breed. It has stood the test of time but does not rest on its laurels.  Responding to market trends the breed continues to adapt and improve, so much so that the Longhorn is now superbly placed to meet the challenges of Quality Beef Production in the 21st Centuary.

Pedigree Sheep Dogs

On the farm we have one dog and two bitches who are working Border Collies . All of which are an essential part of our daily farming life. They originate from the best quality background breeds of both trial and farm dogs. From time to time we have litters available for sale.
